Those were the 35mm film days. I was not exactly the most popular guy in class. And was constantly picked up by my photography professor because I was always late for the 8 am class. He rebuked me at every opportunity. The point came where I was at the edge. To fall.

Meanwhile my hostel room, far from college, was a makeshift studio. Here I would get all the books on photography from the library and experiment with table lamps and other meager resources in the Bulb mode. The experiments used to run till early in the morning, with students of Law, IT posing as models. Obviously I would be late the next day for the 8 am class.

Outside the college I chanced upon meeting some practicing photographers from my old Physics department (Graduation). Photography unfolded as we chatted in the night, before dinners, in the alleys of the college. A keen sense developed in me. Every Sunday we went on shoots. We could not afford to shoot more than one or two frames in the tight pocket money we had. Thus technical know how was key, before the film was exposed. I showed the picture to my professor. I did fall, but to a different world. A new world. I was taking classes.

3rd Thought Testimonial:

We call him ‘King’ for a reason—his joyous and natural tendency to be an artist. Although, he is currently in the realm of photography, he is capable of a whole lot more.
